Build a weekly plan that actually works
A gentle, realistic approach to planning the week — without the guilt of an over-full page. · 5 min read

Most weekly plans fail on Wednesday. Not because we lack discipline, but because the plan was written for an ideal week that never arrives.
Start with what is already fixed
Before adding anything new, block out what is non-negotiable: meetings, travel, family time, rest. What remains is your real capacity — usually less than it first appears.
Choose a focus for each day
Instead of scattering tasks across seven days, give each day a theme: deep work on Monday, admin on Tuesday afternoon, creative work on Thursday. Themes make decisions easier in the moment.
Plan for the week you have, not the week you wish you had.
Leave white space on purpose
Unscheduled time is not wasted time. It absorbs the surprises that every week brings and keeps the rest of the plan intact.
Review on Friday
Spend ten minutes looking back: what moved forward, what didn't, what to carry over. Then close the planner and enjoy the weekend.
